Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add a player?

Tap the Settings button (gear icon) on the main board, then tap Add Player. Enter the player's name and confirm. You can add up to 5 players on the free tier, or unlimited players after purchasing Remove Limits.

How do I enter a score?

Tap the + button beneath a player's name column to add a score. In AnyValue mode, type the number on the keypad. In Predefined Values mode, pick a value from the list. You can also subtract scores using the button.

How do I delete the last score?

Shake your device to open the quick-action sheet and choose Delete last score. Alternatively, in Settings, use the Delete Score option. In Sequential mode, only the most recent entry can be deleted.

What does the Sequential (One-by-One) board style do?

In Sequential mode, players enter scores in a fixed order — one player at a time, round by round. This keeps scores in aligned rows, which is great for games like Rummy or Scrabble where turn order matters. The board shows a grid with player names as column headers and round numbers as rows.

Sequential mode is available as an optional purchase. You can try it free for 10 minutes before deciding.

What are the free tier limits?

The free version of Score Counter allows:

  • Up to 5 players
  • Up to 10 score records per player
  • Up to 2 saved games
  • No autosave

Purchasing Remove Limits unlocks all of these to unlimited, plus enables the autosave feature.

How do I save and restore a game?

Tap the Saved Games button in the toolbar. Enter a name for your game and tap Save. To restore a game, open Saved Games and tap Restore this game next to the entry you want.

If you have purchased Remove Limits, the app will also autosave your game every 5 minutes in the background and offer to reload it on the next launch.

How do I set a target / winning score?

Go to Settings → Game Options → Reaching Score and enter your target number. When any player reaches exactly that total, a winning animation plays. The game continues so other players can also reach the target; final rankings are ordered by who reached the target first.

How do I reset all scores to start a new game?

Shake your device and choose Reset all scores or New game. You can also use Reset game from the Settings screen. Resetting clears all score records but keeps the player list intact so you don't need to re-enter names.

How do I restore my purchases on a new device?

Go to Settings → In-App Purchases → Restore Purchases. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple ID that was used for the original purchase. You will not be charged again — restoring is always free.

Can I temporarily remove a player without deleting them?

Yes. In the Players list within Settings, you can deactivate a player. Deactivated players are hidden from the main board but their score history is preserved. You can reactivate them at any time.

What does the Calculator do?

The built-in calculator supports standard arithmetic (+, −, ×, ÷) and memory functions (MC, M+, M−, MR). After calculating a result, you can apply it directly to any player's score — either adding or subtracting the value. The last used value and memory are saved between sessions.

How do I reorder players?

In the Players list in Settings, use the drag handles on the right side of each row to drag players into the desired order. In Sequential mode, reordering is blocked mid-round — all players must have equal score counts before you can change the order.
